2009 News
This year begins with work in an exhibition, Genius Loci, to celebrate a 100 years
of urban development of the City of Zaragoza. Invited by the College of Architects, and
alongside some of Spain’s leading artists, Felix has to produce work on top of a plan of
the city, giving his vision of the cities urban development......a nice project, as he was
born in Zaragoza, and has seen its development over the years.
In February Felix returns to ARTTANK in Belfast for an exhibition titled, Harmonies,
which will be a collection of new works, and some of his recent ceramics. Later in the
year there will be exciting new projects, in new venues and new cities. One will be
a solo at Changing Art, in Antwerp, Belgium, a charming gallery in the centre of the
old city, with whom he has just started to collaborate. Then in June he has been
invited to exhibit in Berlin, alongside the North American sculptor John Northington,
multi-media Bulgarian artist Milena Stamboliyska, and German performance artist
Franz Gratwohl.
During the summer Felix hopes to return to the Pyrenees for a second residency. In
2008 he produced a series of books and large works on paper, inspired by the
dramatic light and landscape which surrounds the village where he stayed. Also he has
been asked to exhibit with 19 other prominent French artists in a beautiful private
gallery in the Gers, south west France, a project aimed to bring together a group of
like minded artists, and to stimulate the public interest in contemporary art.
In the autumn he has been invited to show in Sofia (Bulgaria) in an international art
exhibition titled, On a Roll. The title draws attention to artists as active participants
in contemporary culture, where everything is in constant flux and rapidly changing.
The exhibition will then tour to other European countries.
Later in the year a new book will be published on the life and work of Felix. This is
being written by the European art collector, Michael Simonow, whose extensive and
important collection is on permanent loan to the Abbaye Flaran, in the Gers, south
west France, and will add to a number of books and catalogues written by Mr Simonow.
The book will cover Felix’s personal life and include a history of his work up to the
present day.....
Finally, Felix has also started a new collaboration with the Spanish bank, CAJALON,
for exhibitions and projects, coming to fruition in 2010.
